Various kinds of merit scholarships are available to the US citizens. It should be noted that most of these scholarships are offered through corporate endowments and alumni gifts.

Scholarships for first year students:
This category of scholarship is offered to at the early stage of admissions and is strictly based upon the information furnished in the application form and during the interview. Thus, it is always recommendable that the students apply for admission as early as possible to increase their chances of qualifying for such scholarships. The admission essay written by the student will be used to access their performance before considering for the scholarship list. All decisions regarding the merit based scholarships are taken by the first year scholarship committee during the end of the admission response cycle. Thus, after scrutiny the announcement of the merit scholarships are mailed on the last day before the admission notification or the Round 1.

Round 1 Applicants: The round 1 student’s should take care that their research work has been completed. This is time the round where the applicants can secure their offer of getting admission to Darden. An important feature of Darden is that once getting enrolled in it the students automatically compete for more than 50 other two year scholarships ranging from one year to full tuition fee.

List of scholarships: The full list of merit scholarships available to the US citizens has been mentioned below. The students need not provide any written essays unless requested by the Darden Scholarship Committee.

Darden Jefferson Fellowships: The scholarship program comes along full redemption of the tuition fee along with living expenses, research compensation, and books. The program is the outcome of the efforts of Darden School and Jefferson Scholars foundation to provide aid to exceptional students who have applied for an MBA in Darden. The students are awarded after a thorough scrutiny of ethical leadership, track record of the students, diplomatic decisions and academic achievement. Thus, the candidates applying for this scholarship should be possessing higher intelligence along with academic excellence. Along with the above stated features the students should also demonstrate leadership, honor, integrity and citizenship. The final selection will be done from the applicants and the will be offered an admission in Darden.

Batten Media Fellowship: The fellowship is mainly offered to students engaged in media especially at news gathering organizations. The scholarship comes along full redemption of the tuition fee with additional funds for books and computer expenses. The candidate must be involved in a full time editorial or media job with more than 3 years of experience at hand. Along with the above stated requirements the applicants should be possessing strong interest in leading media organizations after the completion of MBA. All applicants should be US citizens and qualify for regular admission to the Darden School. The students can also obtain a special application from the Financial Aid office of the school. All interviews will be conducted by the VP of communications and director of Financial Aid department.
